Already mentioned my teeth in another thread, but I floss after every meal. It really does cut down on plaque and gets rid of food that might decay on the teeth. I use a dental flossing pick, much easier to use and easier on the gums.

Use listerine after brushing nearly as good as flossing

Don't believe the ADS

I have been a dentist for 5 years. Literine does NOTHING but freshen your breath. The rinsing action does help, but you can do that with water. FLOSSING is essential to your "gums" health. Blue yes your gums will bleed for about the first week-two weeks, then they will stop. Think of it like working out the first couple of times and being really sore the next day. If you continue to work out eventually your not "that" sore anymore.

FLOSS people...especially if you want to hold onto those teeth :ok:

Dr. Joe , is there something in alcohol that is almost as bad as sugar for your teeth, like it sticks to your teeth or something, so getting drunk and passing out before you can brush/floss is even worse for you than for the obvious reasons?

I want to know if I have been wasting my time with drunk flossing

No Alcohol actually contains "sugar alcohol's" which ARE different from regular sugar. That being said drinking and going to bed is no worse than not drinking and going to bed. You should ALWAYS brush before you sleep. Brushing will wash away any loose plaque and bacteria. Obvioulsy the more you floss the less intertooth plauqe you will have.

While we're on dental health: I have read it's best to keep your mouth wet(well salivated) at all times as I hear a dry mouth is a breeding ground for cavities. I always rinse and/or floss after every meal and haven't had a cavity for years.

Joelatti - Thanks for your dental tips, definitely good to hear from a professional in here.

CORRECT....Saliva keeps your mouth lubricated, but also is natures defense against cavities. So although I don't advise chewing too much gum, a piece of sugar free gum after a meal is a great idea if you cannot brush!

You probably will get GINGERVITIS soon if not already. There is this thing like a toothbrush that you use its SO EASY to floss. Go to a CVS, Walgreens etc and buy one
